GOLOKS

A BOOT'S STORY, FROM TIBET TO THE VERCORS

GOLOKS finds its origins in a distant and legendary land: the Tibetan highlands. The brand’s name pays tribute to a fierce and independent tribe living between Kham and Amdo, around the invincible sacred mountain of Amne Machen. In 2005, during a reportage in the remote regions of China, Constantin de Slizewicz discovered these boots worn by the Goloks, a people of “warlike gentlemen” with a reputation as intrepid as it is mystical. Captivated by the authenticity, robustness, and character of these boots, Constantin decided to rename them in honor of this proud people, driven by a love of freedom and adventure.

Since 2010, on the Tibetan Marches of Yunnan, Constantin and his Caravane Liotard teammates have never been without their Goloks, whether camping at 4,000 meters altitude or facing the harsh Himalayan climate. Their sturdiness, unmatched comfort thanks to sheepskin, and distinctive aesthetics make them much more than just a boot: they embody a way of life and a philosophy centered on authenticity, nature, and adventure.

In 2020, Constantin de Slizewicz returned to France, to the Drôme region, his homeland at the foot of the Vercors. There, surrounded by the landscapes of his childhood, he decided to preserve the spirit of these Tibetan boots, but with French craftsmanship. In collaboration with his childhood friend, designer Jérémie du Chaffaut, they reimagined the Goloks, boot, blending traditional artisanal manufacturing techniques with modern demands for comfort and durability.
